Express Entry is Canada's online system for managing permanent residence applications from skilled workers. Candidates create a profile under the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class or Federal Skilled Trades Program and are ranked by a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score out of 1,200. The highest-ranked candidates receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for PR.

Canada Express Entry: overview
Express Entry is the fastest and most popular route to Canadian permanent residence for skilled professionals from India. You don't apply directly — you enter a pool, and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invites the top-ranked candidates in regular draws.
Draws can be general or category-based. Category-based draws target specific groups such as healthcare, STEM, trades, education and French-language speakers, which means the right occupation or language skills can make a big difference to your chances.

Eligibility requirements
- At least one year of continuous skilled work experience (for FSWP)
- Language test results: IELTS General, CELPIP, PTE Core, TEF or TCF
- Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) for foreign degrees
- Minimum 67 points on the FSWP selection grid (FSWP only)
- Proof of settlement funds, unless exempt
- Admissible to Canada — medical and police clearance

Canada Express Entry: FAQs
What CRS score do I need for Canada PR?
There's no fixed pass mark. The cut-off changes with every draw and depends on the draw type. We estimate your score and show how to improve it — for example through a better language score or a provincial nomination.
Does a job offer help in Express Entry?
A job offer no longer adds CRS points; those points were removed in March 2025. A provincial nomination still adds 600 points.
Can I include my family in Express Entry?
Yes. Your spouse or common-law partner and dependent children can be included, and your spouse's education and language scores can add points.
How long does Express Entry take?
Once you receive an ITA and submit a complete application, IRCC aims to process most applications in about six months, though times vary.
